How to keep busy in North Denver Metro
There are so many things to do in May! Did you know that May is Older Americans Month? Seniors across the country can find activities to celebrate this year’s theme, Engage at Every Age. Don’t forget about Mother’s Day and Memorial Day. With so many options, here is a list of fun activities to keep you busy as we welcome Spring!
- The Colorado Gerontological Society is holding the 29th Annual Salute to Seniors: Salute to Creative Aging on Saturday, May 12, at the Colorado Convention Center, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This event is a great way to learn more about financial services, home care, legal services, tech services, transportation, independent living, pet services and recreational activities. There will also be entertainment and activities!
- There are so many ways to celebrate your mom on Mother’s Day! Here are a couple unique ways to celebrate: All moms have free admission at the Colorado Railroad Museum and you have the opportunity to ride behind a historic Denver & Rio Grande Western steam locomotive! If your mom likes ceramics, wood, glass, jewelry, or handmade crafts of any kind, you might consider taking her to the Denver Potters Association Spring Show & Sale, at the Sixth Avenue United Church, from May 10 – May 13.
- Memorial Day is a great time to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our country. Here are some events for the Memorial Day weekend: The Veterans Memorial Day Tribute, will be held at POF Hall, on May 26, starting at 10 a.m. Also, the Broomfield Veterans Memorial Museum and Broomfield Rotary will be hosting a Memorial Day Ceremony and Picnic, at Broomfield Commons. The event will take place on Monday, May 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include displays, local music, and food.
